BloodStream.tv Submit Your Film to BloodStream

Finally — a streaming platform for horror creators.

Submit a Film / Short / Episodic

For too long, horror filmmakers have faced the same roadblocks: platforms moving away from the genre, gatekeepers controlling access, and middlemen taking more than their share. Uploading to YouTube isn’t an option — horror is flagged, demonetized, or hidden. Submitting to distributors often means giving up control and waiting months or years to see a dime.

BloodStream changes that.

We are the platform built specifically for horror, thriller, and sci-fi creators who want to reach their fans directly and monetize their work right away.

FAQ

What is BloodStream's business model for creators?

BloodStream licenses films, series, and shorts from rights-holders and pays creators a revenue share from two primary models:
  • SVOD (subscription video on demand): 50% of subscription revenue is allocated to rights-holders, pro-rated by minutes viewed across all SVOD programming in the period.
  • AVOD/FAST (ad-supported and linear): 50% of advertising revenue attributable to your content (AVOD on-demand and FAST/Linear ad breaks).
  • Payouts: Quarterly, payable 45 days after the end of each calendar quarter.

How exactly are SVOD payouts calculated?

  • Total all Net SVOD Revenue for the quarter.
  • Allocate 50% of that total to a Creator Pool.
  • Your share = Your Minutes Viewed ÷ All SVOD Minutes Viewed in the period, applied to the Creator Pool.
  • Definition (Net SVOD Revenue): Amount actually collected from subscription sales for the period minus sales taxes/VAT, payment processor or app-store fees, refunds/chargebacks, and any documented third-party costs strictly required to deliver or report the service.

How exactly are AVOD/FAST payouts calculated?

For AVOD and FAST/Linear, we total Net Ad Revenue attributable to your content (ad impressions served against your on-demand title and/or your minutes within a FAST/Linear channel) and pay 50% to you.
  • Definition (Net Ad Revenue): Gross ad receipts recognized for the period minus ad-serving/marketplace fees, demand-partner fees, ad verification/fraud fees where applicable, and taxes/refunds.

When do I get paid?

We close books at the end of each calendar quarter and pay creators within 45 days (e.g., Q1 ends March 31 → paid by May 15). Payments are in USD via ACH/wire (thresholds may apply). You must have a valid W-9 (US) or W-8BEN/W-8BEN-E (non-US) on file.

Is the deal exclusive?

Default: non-exclusive. You can continue to exploit your content elsewhere (including your own channels) unless we separately agree to:
  • A windowed exclusive (e.g., Early Access premiers), or
  • Platform-specific exclusivity for a defined window/territory.
Any exclusivity is optional and must be agreed in writing (term, territories, and window clearly defined).

What rights do I grant to BloodStream?

A limited license to host, encode, stream, publicly perform, and promote your Program(s) on BloodStream's SVOD, AVOD, and FAST/Linear services, plus use of artwork, stills, and trailers for discovery, merchandising, and promotion of the service and your Program(s). You retain ownership and all underlying rights not expressly granted.

How long is the license term and can I take my content down?

Default term is open-ended, non-exclusive with a 90-day initial commitment to allow for onboarding, editorial programming, and marketing. After that:
  • You may request takedown with 30 days' notice.
  • We may remove content at any time for legal, policy, or quality reasons (we'll notify you).
  • All accrued earnings through the effective takedown date remain payable per the regular schedule.
  • (If a separate windowed exclusive is agreed, that window governs removals during the window.)

What kind of content can I submit?

  • Formats: Features, mid-length, shorts, series (episodic), trailers/teasers, and extras (e.g., BTS, deleted scenes, commentaries).
  • Genres: Horror and horror-adjacent (thriller, sci-fi, dark fantasy, true-crime-adjacent, etc.).
  • Maturity: Adult-skewing content within legal/industry standards. Unlawful content, hate speech, or content violating child-protection laws is prohibited.

What deliverables do you require?

Video
  • Master: 1080p H.264 MP4 (high bitrate) or ProRes 422 HQ mezzanine. 4K welcome (ProRes/High-bitrate H.265).
  • Frame rate: Native, constant.
  • Audio: Stereo 2.0 (LtRt) required; 5.1 optional (provide accurate channel mapping).
Captions & Subs
  • English captions required in SRT (or SCC for broadcast-grade).
  • Optional subtitles in additional languages (SRT).
Artwork & Stills
  • Poster (2:3): 1200×1800 (min) PNG/JPG, text safe, no festival laurels on platform art.
  • Landscape (16:9): 1920×1080 (min).
  • Logo/Title Treatment (transparent PNG), plus 6–10 stills at 1920×1080+.
Metadata
  • Title, year, runtime, territories, synopsis (short/long), logline, genres, keywords, content warnings, languages, cast/crew, copyright, ISAN/IMDb links (if available), trailer link, and marketing notes.
Clearances
  • Maintain clear chain of title, music licenses (sync/master), talent/location releases, visual art/stock licenses, and other third-party permissions. We may require documents if a dispute arises.

Do you help with localization (subtitles/dubs)?

Yes. We can generate and QC AI-assisted subtitles and manage professional dubs in select languages. You retain final approval. Fees may apply (quoted in advance) or may be mutually recouped from your future earnings—arrangements are agreed before work begins. You may also supply your own vetted SRT/VTT files.

What is the submission flow (similar to YouTube)?

  • Create/Sign In: Create a BloodStream Creator account and complete profile + tax/KYC.
  • Start a Submission: Choose Feature / Short / Series / Trailer / Extras.
  • Upload Assets: Master file(s), captions, artwork, and metadata via web upload or secure delivery link.
  • Rights & Territories: Declare worldwide or specific territories; choose SVOD, AVOD, FAST/Linear, or all eligible.
  • QC & Policy Review: We check technical quality, legal clearances, and content policy compliance.
  • Scheduling: Select release date/time, windowing (e.g., "Early Access"), and preferred collections/folders where applicable.
  • Monetization Setup: Default monetization is SVOD + AVOD where eligible; you can opt out of AVOD (SVOD-only) if you prefer.
  • Go Live: Your title is encoded, merchandised, and published.
  • Track Performance: View minutes viewed, ad impressions (where applicable), territories, and retention.
  • Get Paid: Quarterly statement + payout 45 days after quarter-end.

What is the review time?

We aim to complete QC + policy within standard industry timelines. Complex rights checks, content sensitivity, or missing assets can extend review. You'll see status updates inside your Creator account.

Can I run only SVOD or only AVOD?

Yes. During submission, choose SVOD-only, AVOD-only, or both. Some editorial stunts/collections may favor one model; we'll advise if needed.

How are ad breaks handled on AVOD/FAST?

  • AVOD (on-demand): We manage ad breaks dynamically to optimize viewer experience and revenue. You may provide recommended break points; final insertion may vary by device/ad load.
  • FAST/Linear: Ad pods are scheduled by channel rules. Your revenue share reflects minutes your title contributes to ad-supported linear programming.

What reporting do I receive?

A quarterly statement detailing:
  • SVOD minutes viewed, your % of total minutes, and payout from the Creator Pool
  • AVOD/FAST ad metrics attributable to your content and corresponding revenue share
  • Adjustments for refunds/chargebacks (if any)
Where available, your Creator account provides near-real-time performance indicators (views, minutes, top geos, device mix). If any metric is not yet live in the UI, you can request a CSV export.

Can I update artwork, metadata, or files after launch?

Yes. You can request updates to art, synopses, tags, and even replace masters (e.g., QC fixes). Major changes may require re-QC and temporary unlisting while we process.

Will you promote my title?

Our editorial team curates collections, categories and stunts (e.g., "Paranormal," "Zombies," "Bite-Sized Nightmares," "Dead in Ten," "Micro Screams," holiday folders). Placement is not guaranteed, but:
  • High-quality artwork and captions help
  • Supplying a trailer, extras, and press pull-quotes improves eligibility
  • Timely participation in seasonal collections increases visibility
You may also receive marketing toolkits (key art templates, badges) for your social use.

Can I have an "Early Access" premiere on BloodStream?

Yes, subject to editorial fit and availability. Early Access can include windowed exclusivity, premium placement, and campaign support. Financial terms follow the standard SVOD/AVOD model unless a bespoke window is negotiated.

How do disputes or content claims work?

  • If you believe another uploader infringed your work, file a claim through the Creator account with proof of ownership or email [email protected]
  • We may ask for contracts, registrations, or dated masters.
  • Confirmed infringements are removed or re-assigned. Deliberate repeat infringement can lead to account termination.

What about music, clips, and fair use?

You must clear all music and third-party footage/art unless your use is clearly lawful (e.g., you own it, it's licensed, or the use is independently defensible under applicable law). Fair use is fact-specific; if in doubt, obtain permission.

Are there content restrictions?

  • Prohibited: illegal content, exploitation, real-world harm, doxxing, and material violating child-protection laws.
  • Content that may violate local regulations can be age-gated or geo-restricted.
  • We reserve the right to decline or remove content that risks legal/compliance exposure.

What territories are supported?

Global reach by default, with the ability to opt-out or geo-restrict territories you cannot grant. Some features (e.g., certain ad demand) may vary by region.

Are there fees?

There are no upfront platform fees to submit and monetize. Optional paid services—such as localization, advanced QC, or bespoke marketing—are quoted in advance and only executed with your approval.

Can I cross-post to YouTube or other platforms?

Yes, unless you've chosen an exclusive window with us. Many filmmakers use BloodStream alongside their own channels to diversify revenue.

What performance benchmarks matter most?

  • Completed views and minutes watched (retention)
  • Click-through on artwork and title-card
  • Trailer conversion to full watch
  • Captions/localization expanding reach
  • Participation in seasonal/editorial collections

What taxes do you withhold?

We follow US IRS rules for withholding based on your submitted W-9 or W-8 form and applicable treaties. Creators are responsible for their own tax filings in their jurisdictions.

How do I get started—step by step?

  • Sign up for a Creator account and complete KYC/tax.
  • Add a Program, choose monetization (SVOD/AVOD/FAST) and territories.
  • Upload master, captions, artwork, and metadata.
  • Verify rights, clearances, and any windowing constraints.
  • Submit for QC + policy review.
  • Schedule your release; add trailer and extras if available.
  • Launch and monitor performance.
  • Receive quarterly statements and payouts 45 days after each quarter.
